I have just completed some research into Napi**n (I have has to eliminate a few letters of the name so I don’t get sued!!) & boy have I had my eyes opened! If you are currently using Napi**n on your babies nappies, please read this article.

The reason I started looking into the ingredients etc of Napi**n is because I was thinking about bringing it into the shop. I certainly wont be now!

I’m not naive, I know that a certain amount of harshness is required to get the stains and smells out of washable nappies at times, but having used other brands such as Bambino Mio’s Miofresh & Tots Bots Potion, I realise that Napi**n is way overkill.

For starters you don’t need to soak your nappies anymore, modern day washing machines are more than capable of washing the nappies effectively, and a little bit of nappy cleanser goes along way! The main reason for parents to use washable nappies is to keep their children away from harmful chemicals (disposable nappies are full of them) so the last thing you want to do is wash your nappies in anything that’s going to add chemicals to them, especially ones that can be very irritating to skin.

I have looked at the actual information produced by the company that manufacturers Napi**n and have listed below some of the comments they’ve included, with my own take on them as well!

Toxicological Information: 1) Will cause irritation to the eyes. 2)  Will cause irritation to the skin with prolonged/repeated contact (Baby wears a nappy soaked/washed in the stuff 24 hours a day!). 3) Vapours/mists may cause irritation to the upper respiratory tract (they tell you to soak your nappies in boiling water which produces steam, which is then inhaled by you!).

I realise that alot of people will use napi**n and have no problems with it at all, but having read the toxicity report etc I know I would be concerned that my baby would have an adverse reaction to it, and use something without the Hydrogen Peroxide content.

Miofresh & Potion  both contain Oxygen based bleaching agents and are Hydrogen Peroxide free, Antibacterial, Germicidal, Hypoallergenic, Enzyme Free & not tested on animals. And they work!!

I hope you have found this information as eye opening as I did!

Due to many requests from my gorgeous customers, I have decided to make available a Gift List service for Baby Showers!

It seems that more and more Mum’s are cottoning (excuse the pun!) on to the fact that Baby Showers are actually a very useful and fun thing to do. I know myself that when friends or family members are having babies it’s actually quite hard to decide what to buy them, you never know what other people have bought and everyone’s tastes are different. Enter the baby shower! It’s such an easy way of ensuring that Mum’s get all the things that they have dreamt of having for their little bundles, and at the same time it makes it so much easier for the friends and family to get the things that are really wanted, therefor making sure that people are not wasting money on unwanted items. Yes I know that it’s very “American” but it’s also a lovely treat for a mum to be, and a way for her friends and family to really show how much they care, I certainly wouldn’t have turned one down!!!

Setting up your list couldn’t be easier. Pop into the shop and make your list, I will then transfer it onto the computer and make it available to your friends and family. They can either come into the shop or I will be able to take phone and internet orders. I can keep the items in the shop until they are required or they can be taken away when purchased. If you require the items to be delivered on the day of the shower, there will be a small charge for this, but I will be happy to discuss it on an individual basis.

To top it all off I am giving the Mum to be 10% of the total value spent on her list back to her in the form of gift vouchers, for example,  every £100 spent, mum to be will receive a £10 Gift Voucher!!

Hi Everyone,

I’m totally gutted….the shop was broken into on Tuesday Night (11thAugust). Whoever did it has caused Hundreds if not thousands of pounds worth of damage. They only managed to take some Shoo Shoo’s and some Frugi clothing, but they have left me with glass covered stock which I am going to have to get rid of. The one thing I can be thankful for is the fact that they were obviously fairly dim witted  as they didn’t seem to see the Till!! I always take out the day’s takings but from now on there will be nothing in it over night, I don’t believe in tempting fate! As a direct result of the break-in I am unsure if I am going to get the shop opened Tomorrow (Wednesday 12th) I just have to hope I can get everything cleaned up in time.

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who came to see me on my stall this weekend, apart from getting soaked through on Friday, we had a great time!

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful neighbour for the weekend, Debbie from Eva’s Organics in Brampton. She had a great selection of Organic fruit and Veg (which I had to sample of course!) and it was nice to have someone with the same kind of ideals next to my stall!
